Nadeem Baig, the directed behind some of the hits in Pakistani cinema confirms that he is starring Humayun Saeed as the male lead in his upcoming film London Nahi Jaungi, earlier this month. And that he was hunting for a lead actress to play against Saeed, finally he came out with the news that Mehwish Hayat has been casted to play the lead for the film.
Baig has given box office hits like Punjab Nahi Jaungi, Jawani Phir Nahi Aani and Jawani Phir Nahi Aani 2. He confirmed that currently he is focused on LPJ rather than coming out with another sequel for Jawani Phir Nahi Aani.
2017’s comedy film, Punjab Nahi Jaungi, became the highest grossing Pakistani film, beating Jawani Phir Nahi Aani by the same director. With the success of PNJ, Baig also ended up casting the both for his drama series Dil Lagi. Although the pair was last seen together in Punjab Nahi Jaungi, and the name suggests that the new film is the sequence, it is confirmed by the director that London Nahi Jaungi is not the sequel. The director said that it’s an entirely different story with the same cast and a couple of additions.
On being asked about his decision behind casting Humayun Saeed again, Baig said that Saeed is a brilliant actor and judging from the performance he has been giving in the ongoing very popular drama Meray Paas Tum Ho, Baig was sure that there is a side of Saeed that is still lesser known to a lot of people. He also said that he wants to cast actors like Fahad Mustafa, Fawad Khan and Hamza Ali Abbasi, but currently he thinks that people want to see Saeed more than anybody else.
Baig expressed his love behind directing dramas more than films saying that storytelling is more fun on TV. Since it gives you more time and space to develop characters properly and in depth, there is no commercial pressure whatsoever and at the end of the day you are not forced to recover the money spent over making a feature length movie. Baig has been the director behind various drama series such as; Ladies Park, Omer Dadi Aur Gharwale, Pyaaray Afzal and the Annie Ki Ayegi Baraat series.
He also confirmed that he has more projects in line, which will also be as fun as his previous projects. Although, he haven’t yet confirmed the release date for the film, since he hasn’t decided yet which film he was working on first. But according to some news, the film will release around Eid ul Azha in 202.
